The Celebration Happens When It Happens

In this episode, we talk about our extended celebration for the Mabon (autumn equinox), and how we don’t let anyone tell us how to witch and we don’t tell anyone else. We talk about planetary influences, feature a seed starting R3 project, pull a tarot card for the week, give you a witches brew and leave you with a spell. How do you celebrate and for how long?

Season 3, Episode 5

A Call for Rain!

In this episode we talk about how much the #westcoastfires have impacted the pagan community. So we brew up some rain bottles and magic, our R3 focuses on how to help the wildlife in these fires and smoky air. We look at planetary influences, pull a tarot card and leave you with a spell. Leave a comment below how you call on the rain.

Rain Summoning Spell Jar:

Ingredients:

Strawberry Moon Rain Water (or other moon water)

Glitter beads (or glitter if you allow it in your household 😉 )

Drop of Blue Food Coloring

Drop of clear dish soap

13 aquamarine stones

Sigil (for how and where you want rain)

Rain sounds

Instructions:

Add all the physical ingredients to jar while listening to rain sounds. Put the lid on. Seal with a kiss, while setting intention. Mark the sigil on the lid. Shake three times while repeating your intention out loud. Watch how the beads and stones emulate rain. Place rain jar on altar and burn a white tea light until it extinguishes on its own. Each morning visit your jar, shake three times and send your intention out to the universe. Keep on altar until enough rain falls.

Season 3, Episode 3

It’s Early Witch!

In this episode we talk about the Pisces full moon, the upcoming Mars retrograde, harvesting apples under the full moon, honing psychic abilities, divination, and making sure you have protective boundaries. We talk R3 and Tarot. Witch’s Brew focuses on fruit-fly traps (since it is said season). As always we leave you with a spell.

DIY Fruit Fly Traps

Supplies:

Glass Jar (a small jelly jar works well; you can repurpose a margarine tub)

Plastic Cling Wrap (or, preferably a lid with holes punched into them)

Apples Cider Vinegar (ACV)

Dish Soap

Instructions: Put in 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup of ACV and 13 drops of dish soap into jar. Make a lid with plastic wrap and poke about three to five holes that a fruit fly can easily fly into in the plastic wrap (or put lid with holes drilled into it on). Place “trap” where you’re seeing fruit flies. Renew ACV and soap solution every couple of weeks until all fruit flies have gone (usually by Halloween!). Comment below if you’ve used this and how it worked for you!

Season 3, Episode 1

Winging It and Making Apple Cider Vinegar

MareLin and Runa finally get their two separate worlds — one solitary, one PNW High Priestess — to merge once again. We catch up on All the Things, pull some cards, make some Apple Cider Vinegar (recipe below).

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV):

Supplies needed:

Glass Quart Jar (cleaned and sterilized — does not need to be mason jar, can be an old pickle jar, whatever you have)

fermentation spring and lid — or an old clean tea towel or coffee filter and rubber band.

Enough apple scraps to fill 2/3 of the jar (Runa makes ACV each time she peels an apple or makes pie, etc.)

1 tsp sugar

Water (unchlorinated) ~about 1 1/3 cup.

Instructions: Fill jar with apple scraps 2/3 full. This can include skin, core, seeds, all of it. Add sugar to water and stir until mostly dissolved. Pour sugar water to 1/2″ head space of jar. Put in fermentation spring and lid or cover with clean tea towel and rubber band. Set in a warm dark place for two weeks.

You may stir it every couple of days and skim any scum that floats to the top.

Once two weeks have passed, strain the scraps from the liquid. You may feed said scraps to chickens or pigs, they love it! And the probiotic is good for them.

Set the strained liquid aside for another two to four weeks. I check for that nice vinegar tang after two weeks. Once you are happy with the taste of it, you can put a lid on it and store it in the fridge as long as you like. It will not go bad.

If by chance your vinegar develops a gelatinous blob, congrats! you’ve created a “vinegar mother” and this mother can be used to make future vinegar batches. You can store in your vinegar and just remove it when you want to make a new batch of ACV.

Use your DIY ACV for cooking, cleaning and everything in between, except canning. Do not use your DIY ACV for canning, unless you are a chemist and can test your ACV for its acetic acid level of 5 percent.

Comment below if you’ve used this recipe and how it turned out!
